Kamal Hassina, President of USM Alger’s Board of Directors, has unveiled new developments regarding the controversy surrounding the semi-final match of the CAF Confederation Cup against Moroccan rivals Renaissance Berkane.
Speaking to the media on Monday after USM Alger’s match against JS Kabylie, Hassina stated: “Our team’s lawyer has submitted the first and second files to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the laws are in our favor.”
Hassina further added: “We have requested the replay of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final match against Renaissance Berkane, in addition to compensation for the financial losses resulting from the cancellation of both the first and second legs.”
The spokesperson clarified: “We have submitted a request to CAS to postpone the CAF Confederation Cup final scheduled for Sunday, between Egypt’s Zamalek and Renaissance Berkane.”
