Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez credited with 50% of Al Ahli’s victories in Saudi Pro League

Ahmed Ateef, the former Saudi national team star, praised the remarkable performances of Algerian star Riyad Mahrez with Al-Ahli Jeddah this season.

Mahrez had succeeded in providing two assists in Al-Ahli’s victory over Al-Najma, in their 4-1 triumph on Thursday in their Round 23 clash in the Saudi Professional League

Ateef said in statements via the Saudi program “Our League is Different”: “Mahrez is performing at a great level, he is the first man of the match from my point of view, thanks to the two decisive passes.

He added: “Mahrez is one of those players who can change the course of a match, which is what he did against Al-Najma through passing and vision in a difficult moment.”

He continued: “We used to criticise Mahrez and demand that he do better, because we know the extent of his potential, and he has indeed proven that through his outstanding performances.”

He concluded: “Mahrez is superior to everyone, he can change the course of the game in a fraction of a second, and I think he is responsible for 50% of Al Ahly’s positive results in the recent period.
