Yasser Larouci is on the verge of making his stay at Watford permanent, with the Algerian international expected to sign a long-term deal with the Championship side.

The 24-year-old left-back joined Watford on loan from French club ESTAC Troyes in August 2024, with an option to buy included in the agreement.

His performances have impressed the club’s management, prompting them to initiate discussions to secure his services permanently.

According to Africafoot, Watford have begun negotiations with Larouci’s agent, Tim Pole, to finalise the transfer.

It is understood that the loan deal contained a clause requiring Larouci to play a specified number of matches to trigger the option to buy — a condition that has reportedly been met.

With 32 appearances out of a possible 34 league matches this season, Larouci has played a key role for Watford, providing two assists and delivering consistent defensive performances on the left flank.

“Yasser has been a fantastic addition to the squad, and his dedication on the pitch has been exceptional,” a club representative stated.

Larouci’s desire to remain at Watford is said to align with the club’s intentions, with both parties keen on reaching an agreement.

His current contract with Troyes runs until June 2026, and Transfermarkt values the player at €3.2 million.

The potential transfer would represent a profitable deal for Troyes, who signed Larouci on a free transfer in 2021.

The former Liverpool and Sheffield United reserve player now looks set to continue his career in English football, contributing to Watford’s push for promotion.
