Youcef Belaïli’s potential comeback to the Algerian national team is stirring fresh discussions.
Despite being overlooked by Vladimir Petkovic since the Swiss coach took charge a year ago, the ES Tunis winger remains a topic of interest for the March squad selection.
Said Fellak, communications manager of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), hinted at Belaïli’s inclusion during an appearance on Echourouk.
“If Belaïli is not one of Petkovic’s plans, he would not be in the extended list. The national coach may have seen that there are players better than Belaïli on the left wing of the attack and that is why he has never held him since his arrival at the head of the Greens,” Fellak stated.
While his absence has fueled speculation about a permanent omission, his presence in the extended squad suggests the door isn’t fully closed. With the next international window approaching, Belaïli’s potential return to the Greens could depend on tactical considerations and his form leading up to March.
