Algerian winger Bachir Belloumi driving Hull City EFL Championship playoff push
Algerian right winger Bachir Belloumi has firmly re-established himself in Hull City’s starting eleven, delivering another assist as his team beat Millwall 3-1 away to strengthen their push towards the EFL Championship play-offs.
The Mascara-born talent had only returned to the bench in early November after a setback in September following a serious injury, but he is now stringing together games, high-level performances and positive results with his club.
Hull’s win was their third in the last four matches, and Belloumi set the tone very early. In the 8th minute, he whipped in a low cross from the right for Kyle Joseph to score the opener, once again underlining his growing influence in the final third. Throughout the game, Belloumi thrilled the crowd with close control and feints reminiscent of his legendary father, Lakhdar Belloumi.
Constantly cutting inside from the wing, he repeatedly slipped team-mates into space and also tried his luck with several shots of his own. His resurgence is excellent news for Hull and will not go unnoticed by Algeria’s technical staff as they monitor attacking options abroad.
