Montpellier HSC has officially announced the return of Algerian striker Andy Delort, signing him on loan with an option to buy from MC Alger.
Following the departure of Nigerian forward Akor Adams to Sevilla, the Ligue 1 club—currently struggling near the bottom of the table—has turned to a familiar face to bolster its attack.
Delort, 33, previously played for Montpellier between 2018 and 2021, scoring 47 goals in 106 appearances before moving on to OGC Nice.
In a video released by the club, Delort addressed his return, acknowledging mixed emotions surrounding his previous departure.
“I know that I disappointed a lot of people following my departure, and I have regrets,” he said. “I never cheated on the pitch, I was always determined, I always showed the rage that I had.
I think I always gave my all, and today, I am here hoping to bring everything I can bring on the pitch, to try to succeed in this mission which is going to be complicated, but I think that with this club, we can do it.”
Montpellier will be counting on Delort’s experience and goal-scoring ability as they fight to maintain their place in France’s top flight.
