Algerian midfielder, Ismaël Bennacer, is set to return to action for AC Milan after spending 113 days on the sidelines due to a muscle injury.
The 26-year-old was initially expected to be out until January, following surgery on his calf last September. However, thanks to an innovative rehabilitation program at the Aspetar hospital in Qatar, Bennacer’s recovery has progressed faster than anticipated.
According to information gathered from credible sources, Bennacer rejoined AC Milan’s collective training in mid-December, well ahead of schedule. His accelerated recovery has given head coach Paulo Fonseca a much-needed boost as Milan look to bolster their midfield options. Despite recurring injury struggles over the past two seasons, Bennacer has returned stronger, passing rigorous medical assessments conducted by the club’s doctors to confirm his readiness for top-level competition.
Fonseca, who had initially doubted Bennacer’s availability for the first half of the season, has now included him in the squad for AC Milan’s upcoming Serie A clash against AS Roma.
While Bennacer is expected to start on the bench, the plan is to ease him back into action gradually, with hopes of seeing him take on a more prominent role in the coming weeks.
Bennacer’s return comes at a critical time for AC Milan. With the winter transfer window approaching and the club exploring options to reinforce their midfield, his performances could be pivotal in shaping his future at the club.
Milan’s leadership remains hopeful that Bennacer can rediscover his best form, which would significantly strengthen the team’s push for success in the second half of the season.
