Royale Union Saint-Gilloise fell 3–2 at home to Olympique Marseille in the Champions League, but Algerian midfielder Adem Zorgane delivered a standout display that drew comparisons with Zinedine Zidane.

The Belgian side struck first after just five minutes through Khalaili, before OM hit back with three goals, including a brace from Greenwood, to lead 3–1 just before the hour.

Zorgane stood out with his elegance on the ball and vision in tight spaces. He constantly helped his team progress up the pitch, either by threading passes in behind the defence or combining in one-touch moves and no-look passes that broke Marseille’s pressing lines. His style, described as that of “an heir to a football from another era,” continues to draw praise even as some still question his lack of intensity and speed.

One sequence in particular evoked Zidane: a sombrero flick followed by an instant, outside-of-the-foot lofted pass without looking. Later, in the 76th minute, he almost set up a 3–3 equaliser with a delicate chipped ball to Mac Allister, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for offside, leaving Union stuck on six points from six group matches.
