KV Kortrijk’s relegation to the Belgian second tier has cast a shadow over the future of Algerian midfielder Abdelkahar Kadri, with two Pro League clubs reportedly moving to secure his signature.
At 25 years old, Kadri is determined not to drop into the second division. The dynamic midfielder was a standout performer in Kortrijk’s squad during their difficult season and remains one of the most highly regarded players in the league in his position.
His performances in recent months have only strengthened his case for a move, especially following a strong display during the relegation playoffs, where he contributed consistently with both goals and assists.
Interest in Kadri has already materialized in the form of a concrete bid. KAA Gent is said to have made an opening offer of €500,000, which was swiftly turned down by Kortrijk, who believe the player’s market value is considerably higher.
Meanwhile, Royal Charleroi, still assessing how to replace the recently departed Adem Zorgane, are monitoring the situation closely. Although they have yet to place a formal offer, their interest is clear.
Kadri, who has earned caps for the Algerian national team, has made no secret of his desire to leave. According to reports, he has opted not to join Kortrijk for pre-season training and is currently preparing individually, a move that underscores his determination to find a new challenge.
He remains under contract until 2026, but both club and player now appear to be at odds over the terms of any departure.
The midfielder first arrived in Belgium in 2021, transferring from Paradou AC. Since then, he has impressed with his creativity and consistency, making over 100 appearances and becoming a fixture in Kortrijk’s midfield.
His ability to dictate play and contribute offensively has made him a sought-after asset, especially for top-flight clubs seeking experienced reinforcements.
Despite the intense speculation, Kortrijk are standing firm on their valuation, believed to be in the region of €2–2.5 million. This figure has thus far proven to be a stumbling block in negotiations, as interested clubs weigh their options ahead of the new season.
Nevertheless, with Kadri intent on continuing his career at the highest level, and Kortrijk facing financial and sporting pressures following relegation, the likelihood of a deal being reached before the transfer window closes remains high.
A move within the Belgian top flight appears most likely, with the player eager to maintain his visibility and competitive edge. The next few weeks could be crucial in determining whether Kadri’s ambitions align with the realities of the market — and whether Kortrijk will ultimately cash in on one of their most valuable players.
The situation remains fluid, but with demand growing and the player pushing for an exit, a resolution seems inevitable. All eyes now turn to whether a deal can be agreed that satisfies both Kadri’s career aspirations and Kortrijk’s financial expectations.
