Olympique de Marseille are continuing their search for a second striker to partner Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi, with Algerian international Ishak Belfodil reportedly offered to the club.
Belfodil, who has played for Inter Milan and Parma in Italy, has been plying his trade at Baniyas in the United Arab Emirates since last summer. A return to European football would reportedly appeal to the 26-year-old forward. However, Marseille face competition, with Ligue 1 rivals Lille also showing interest.
Since the opening of the winter transfer window, Marseille have explored several attacking options. Moves for Ivorian Seydou Doumbia and Tanzanian striker Mbwana Samatta have reportedly fallen through, leaving the club eager to reinforce their frontline.
Belfodil’s experience in Serie A and his proven goal-scoring ability could provide Marseille with the additional attacking support they need alongside Batshuayi as they push for domestic and European objectives this season.
