Youcef Belaïli’s position at the summit of the CAF Champions League top scorers’ chart is under increasing threat following a quiet quarter-final round that saw his side, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, eliminated from the competition.
The Algerian international, who has not scored since the third matchday of the group stage against Pyramids FC, remains on seven goals—just one ahead of two surging contenders, Fiston Mayele and Ibrahim Adel.
With both players still active in the tournament and playing for a Pyramids FC side that has advanced to the semi-finals, Belaïli’s lead is hanging by a thread.
Mayele, the Congolese forward, and Adel, representing Egypt, have each netted six times in the current campaign.
Their continued presence in the competition gives them a clear opportunity to leapfrog Belaïli in the coming rounds.
The top ten scorers list reflects the competitive depth of the Champions League, showcasing talent from across the continent.
Notably, Al Ahly’s Emam Ashour and Young Africans SC midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki follow closely with five goals each.
The remainder of the list includes Aimen Mahious (CR Belouizdad), Clement Mzize (Young Africans), Wessam Abou Ali (Al Ahly), Mohamed Abdelrahmane (Al-Hilal Club), and Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates), all tied on four goals apiece.

As the semi-finals approach, all eyes will be on whether Belaïli’s early tournament form will be enough to secure the golden boot, or if Mayele and Adel can seize the moment to overtake the Algerian.
