Étoile Sportive du Sahel have completed the signing of Algerian forward Mohamed Saïd Benmazouz, with the 21-year-old leaving USM Alger to embark on his first venture outside his home country.
The promising striker, who came through the academy system at USM Alger, has agreed a two-year contract with the Tunisian giants.
A former Algeria U18 international, Benmazouz has long been regarded as one of the brightest prospects of his generation and now takes the next step in his career with a move to Sousse.
By bringing in the young centre forward, Étoile Sportive du Sahel have underlined their intention to refresh and strengthen their attacking options.
While this will be Benmazouz’s first professional experience abroad, his goalscoring instincts and proven record at youth and senior level make him a signing the club believes can deliver immediate impact.
Mohamed Saïd Benmazouz has shown great potential and we believe he can continue to grow with us, the club announced upon confirming his arrival. This transfer is part of our vision to build for the future while remaining competitive.
Despite his youth, Benmazouz already arrives in Tunisia with notable achievements to his name.
In 2023, he played a decisive role in USM Alger’s U19 side lifting the Algerian Cup, finishing the competition as top scorer with ten goals.
Two years later, he carried that form into the senior setup, once again topping the scoring charts as USM Alger claimed the 2025 Algerian Cup, netting five goals along the way.
Such statistics highlight his instinctive eye for goal and composure under pressure — qualities Étoile will hope he can replicate in the Tunisian top flight.
Supporters are optimistic that his arrival will add a fresh dimension to the team’s attack, particularly as the club seeks to challenge on both domestic and continental fronts.
For Benmazouz, the move represents a pivotal moment in his career.
Adapting to a new environment and a more competitive league will provide a stern test, but one he has embraced with ambition.
I am very happy to join a great club like Étoile Sportive du Sahel, he said during his presentation. “I want to give my best, score goals, and help the team achieve its objectives.
With a proven record of delivering in big moments at such a young age, Benmazouz will now look to translate his domestic success in Algeria into consistent performances for his new club, as he begins an important new chapter in Tunisia.
