Ikram Adjabi is steadily regaining her confidence at Le Havre AC following a challenging return to the club last summer.
After a four-year absence, the 26-year-old Algerian international faced significant difficulties in readapting to her team, but a pivotal moment this weekend on Nantes’ pitch in the D1 Féminine championship has marked a breakthrough for the forward.
Having spent time at US Orléans and GPSO 92 Issy, Adjabi made her return to Le Havre in September 2024.
Despite her familiarity with the club, her re-entry was not smooth. Upon her arrival, she found it difficult to replicate the impact she had during her first stint.
The season began with complications, as Adjabi was unable to impress head coach Maxime Di Liberto.
Starting in the opening match of the season against Nantes, she struggled to convince her manager, which led to her relegation to the bench.
During the subsequent games against Paris FC and PSG, she was left without a single minute of play.
A Goal to Spark a Revival
A turning point arrived on October 11, 2024, when Adjabi returned to action on the fourth matchday, though not as a starter.
It wasn’t until the sixth round, against Dijon, that she was reinstated to the starting lineup.
Since November 2, she has steadily been given more opportunities, starting in three more matches, including the last two.
Her persistence finally paid off this weekend against Nantes, when she scored her first goal of the season.
In the 31st minute, Adjabi fired a stunning right-footed shot that hit the post and landed in the back of the net.
The joy she expressed after the goal was a clear indication of how much it meant to her, as it relieved the doubts that had been hanging over her since the beginning of the season.
With her performance on the pitch, Adjabi is clearly regaining her form and self-assurance.
In 11 matches so far this season in the French top flight, she has one goal and zero assists for Le Havre.
As Adjabi continues to build confidence, her presence on the field is becoming more consistent, signaling a promising turn in her career with the Ciel et Marine.
