ASO Chlef Faces Do-or-Die Clash Against MC El Eulma in Relegation Battle
After a disappointing elimination from the CAF Cup, ASO Chlef is now entirely focused on surviving in Algeria’s Ligue 1. Sitting second from bottom in the standings, the club must now deliver flawless performances to avoid relegation. Their mission begins with a critical fixture this Saturday against fellow strugglers MC El Eulma, also fighting for top-flight survival.
ASO Chlef coach Mohamed Benchouia is under no illusions about the importance of the match:
“Certainly, the task will not be easy at all, but we will do everything to win the three points. It is even the last chance match for the group, which must pull out all the stops to be able to continue to believe in staying among the elite,” he told El Watan.
Despite a satisfactory performance against Club Africain in their CAF Cup exit, Benchouia is worried about:
-
Key player absences due to repeated injuries.
-
A lack of offensive firepower, as the team continues to suffer without a professional striker.
Benchouia must now reshuffle and motivate his squad, finding a starting eleven capable of overcoming MC El Eulma—possibly ASO Chlef’s last real opportunity to turn their season around.
The pressure is immense, and only victory will keep Chlef’s hopes of survival alive.
