Algerian defender Mehdi Dorval shines with stunning outside‑foot assist in Serie B
Algerian left-back Mehdi Dorval delivered a brilliant outside-of-the-foot cross to set up Bari’s late equaliser in a dramatic 1-1 draw against Pescara in Serie B.
Bari struggled for long spells against the league’s bottom side, who took the lead in the 8th minute through Di Nardo, then went down to ten men on 31 minutes when Olzer was sent off for a reckless stamp on Dorval.
At half-time, Bari’s coach changed the game by bringing on Maggiore and Gytkjaer. Gytkjaer first went close after a powerful run and cross from Dorval, then had a goal ruled out for offside, while Moncini twice failed from the penalty spot as Bari chased a way back.
The breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute when Dorval surged forward, reached the edge of the box and whipped a superb outside‑right‑foot delivery onto Maggiore’s head for the equaliser.
Minutes later, Dorval crossed with his left foot for Gytkjaer, whose header went narrowly wide, before creating yet another big chance in stoppage time with a tight left-footed cross after a neat right-foot control, amid Bari protests for a handball that the referee waved away. Despite the frustrations and missed opportunities, Dorval’s all-action display and spectacular assist were the standout positives for Bari on a wild night.
