The Algerian Football Federation and the Professional Football League (LFP) have proposed Saturday, 2 May 2026, as the date for the Algerian Cup final, with approval pending from the Presidency of the Republic.
The announcement comes amid a compressed schedule caused by the 2026 World Cup, requiring all domestic competitions to conclude before June.
The LFP has also set Friday, 22 May as the provisional end date for the Ligue 1 season, though this may be adjusted depending on the involvement of Algerian clubs in African competitions.
MC Alger and JS Kabylie are competing in the CAF Champions League, while CR Belouizdad and USM Alger are participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.
For the Algerian Cup, the quarter-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, 3 March and Wednesday, 4 March. The fixtures are as follows:
- Tuesday, 3 March, Nelson Mandela Stadium (to be confirmed): CR Belouizdad vs MC Alger
- Tuesday, 3 March, Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium: CS Constantine vs JSM Bejaia
- Wednesday, 4 March, 5 July 1962 Stadium: USM Alger vs JS Saoura
- Wednesday, 4 March, 1 November 1954 Stadium: CA Batna vs MC Saïda
The semi-finals are planned for Tuesday, 7 April, set for midweek.
The final, if confirmed for 2 May, will mark the conclusion of one of Algeria’s most popular domestic tournaments, providing a high-profile finale ahead of the World Cup.
The compressed schedule underscores the challenges faced by national football authorities in balancing domestic competitions with international club commitments, while ensuring that players are available for preparation ahead of the global tournament.
The proposed dates aim to allow adequate recovery and preparation time for teams competing on multiple fronts, while maintaining the integrity and excitement of the Algerian Cup.
