Algeria’s Mohamed Lamine Zemmamouche Withdraws from AFCON Qualifiers Due to Injury
Algeria goalkeeper Mohamed Lamine Zemmamouche has been forced to leave the national team’s training camp ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia and Mali due to injury.
The USM Alger shot-stopper was initially called up by coach Christian Gourcuff for the crucial matches but has now withdrawn after sustaining an undisclosed injury. Details about the severity of the injury and expected recovery time remain unclear.
Despite Zemmamouche’s absence, Gourcuff has not yet opted to call up a replacement goalkeeper. The team will continue preparations with the remaining three goalkeepers in the squad.
Algeria are set to face Ethiopia on September 6 in Addis Ababa, followed by a home clash against Mali on September 10 in Blida, both key fixtures in their AFCON qualifying campaign.
