Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez closing in on Al Shabab move

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez is reportedly closing in on a return to the Saudi Pro League, with Al Shabab preparing to secure his services as a free agent.

As per reports, negotiations between Mahrez and the Riyadh-based club have progressed significantly, with Al-Shabab already preparing a contract that would keep the experienced attacker at the club until the summer of 2028.

The proposed move would see the 35-year-old remain in Saudi Arabia, where he has continued to showcase his quality since leaving English football. Mahrez is expected to bring considerable experience, creativity and leadership to an Al-Shabab side looking to strengthen its attacking options.

The Algerian has enjoyed an illustrious career at the highest level. He rose to prominence during his time with Leicester City, playing a key role in the club’s historic Premier League title triumph before moving to Manchester City.

His experience at the elite level is now viewed as a major attraction for Al-Shabab, who are looking to build a stronger squad and compete more effectively in the Saudi Pro League.

The Riyadh club reportedly sees Mahrez as an important piece of its sporting project, with his ability to create chances, deliver from wide areas and contribute goals expected to add another dimension to their attack.
