Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic is expected to make a definitive decision on his future with the Algerian national football team on Thursday, according to Algerian Football Federation President Mohamed Raouraoua. The relationship between the two key figures in Algerian football has been tense since Halilhodzic chose to delay his decision on extending his contract until 2015.
Reports from the Algerian press suggest that Halilhodzic is unlikely to change his stance and will likely refuse to continue leading the team after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. If this negative response is confirmed, Raouraoua will be forced to initiate a last-minute search for a new national coach.
Halilhodzic’s current contract runs until June 2014. As per the Algerian Football Federation’s announcement, he will continue to fulfill his duties as the national team coach for their participation in the World Cup, in accordance with the existing contract between both parties.
