USM Alger’s sporting director Saïd Allik is ramping up efforts to secure the signature of Abdenour Belhocini, as the club edges closer to finalising the arrival of two Cameroonian players.
Belhocini, currently unattached, has attracted significant interest from domestic and international clubs, including JS Kabylie.
However, despite several offers on the table, the 32-year-old forward has yet to make a definitive decision regarding his future.
This hesitation has prompted Allik to make a renewed push for the Algerian international, whom he believes would significantly bolster USMA’s attacking options.
Determined to lure the experienced attacker back to the Red and Blacks, Allik has reportedly returned with an improved offer, surpassing the club’s previous proposal.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Allik views Belhocini as a key asset capable of adding firepower and experience to the team’s frontline.
“Belhocini is seen as a player who can bring something extra to the attacking sector,” the source said, highlighting Allik’s insistence on finalising the deal. While the club’s hierarchy remains hopeful, the final outcome hinges on Belhocini’s priorities and timing.
Currently with the Algeria A’ national team, Belhocini is fully focused on preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), under the guidance of coach Madjid Bougherra.
He has made it clear that his immediate attention is on the training camp and that discussions regarding his club future will only take place after his release from the national setup.
“Right now, he’s focused on doing his best for the national team,” a source close to the player confirmed. “He doesn’t want to be distracted and will only consider his options once he leaves Sidi Moussa.”
USMA are keen to strike quickly, knowing that other suitors remain in the picture.
Allik is reportedly planning to meet with Belhocini as soon as the opportunity arises, hoping a face-to-face discussion will help sway the player’s decision in favour of the Algiers club.
As the CHAN camp nears its conclusion, the race for Belhocini’s signature is heating up.
Whether Allik’s persistence and improved offer will be enough to win the battle remains to be seen, but USMA are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to bring the talented forward back into the fold.
