Algeria u-20 end preparation camp with defeat against MC Alger
The Algerian U-20 national football team recently concluded their preparation camp at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa, which ran from November 10 to 18.
The camp wrapped up with a heavy 5-0 defeat against reigning league champions MC Alger. Originally, the team did not have matches scheduled against other youth national sides following a productive October training camp in Côte d’Ivoire. Instead, they took part in two training games: first against Olympique de Médéa, a second-tier club, and then against MC Alger, who are preparing for Champions League action.
The match against MC Alger was described as the most educational, providing valuable lessons for both players and coaching staff. Coach Razik Nedder selected 23 players for this camp, with eight of them currently playing in European clubs. This blend of home and foreign-based players is a clear sign of the team’s ambition. In October, Algeria’s juniors drew 0-0 and won 1-0 in friendlies against Côte d’Ivoire, showing steady progress.
Looking forward, the U20 squad is preparing for the zonal qualifiers of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in March.
