The Algerian Ministry of Sports and Youth has decided to honor the memory of the two young supporters, Sofiane Azib and Seif Eddine, who were victims of the stand collapse at the July 5 stadium last weekend during the match between USM Algiers and MC Algiers. The ministry has declared that a minute of silence will be observed during sports competitions scheduled for the weekend. The ministry called on sports federations, clubs, associations, and supporters’ committees to observe this moment of silence. Additionally, the ministry reminded all those involved in Algerian football of the values of solidarity, sporting ethics, and fair play. Sports Minister Mohamed Tahmi dispatched a commission of inquiry to investigate the tragedy.
