Vahid Halilhodzic, the coach of the Algerian national football team, is actively working to convince Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb to join the Algerian squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Halilhodzic was scheduled to have a meeting with Bentaleb’s father to discuss the player’s future and potentially include him in the squad for an upcoming friendly match against Slovenia on March 5.
However, an unfortunate event occurred as Halilhodzic learned about the death of his father-in-law, leading to the postponement of the meeting with Bentaleb’s father. The Bosnian coach, who had initially planned to be in Bosnia for the funeral, intends to discuss the player’s involvement with the national team as soon as he returns to Lille. Despite the setback, Halilhodzic remains keen on bringing Bentaleb into the Algerian squad for the World Cup.
