Andy Delort has recently expressed his desire to represent the Algerian national team, and the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has welcomed the possibility.
FAF president Kheïreddine Zetchi described Delort’s interest as a positive development. “When a player with Algerian roots declares that he wants to defend our colors, it is always something positive, because he is showing an interest in Algeria,” Zetchi told Le Monde.
While Delort could be called up once he obtains Algerian nationality, Zetchi emphasized that the final decision will rest with Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of the Fennecs. The federation’s openness signals a willingness to integrate talented players of Algerian descent into the national team setup.
