AFCON-Bound Soudani Hints at Surprise Transfer in January Window
Algerian international striker El Arbi Hilal Soudani appears set to change clubs during the upcoming winter transfer window, according to comments made to Le Buteur. Currently on vacation, the Dinamo Zagreb forward is maintaining his fitness through a strict program designed by the Algerian national team’s conditioning staff, as he prepares for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Soudani’s future at club level is also a major talking point. When asked about his next move, the 27-year-old teased the possibility of a significant development:
“Frankly, yes. There could be a big surprise,” he revealed. “Most likely this winter. For the moment, I can’t tell you more because I’m a Dinamo player. But if everything goes as planned, there’s a good chance the situation will be resolved next month.”
While he declined to give further details out of respect for his current club and the ongoing negotiations, Soudani made it clear that a transfer is on the horizon, pending final agreements.
A move to a more competitive European league could be on the cards for the Algerian forward, who remains an important asset for Christian Gourcuff’s Fennecs ahead of their tough Group C AFCON campaign featuring Ghana, Senegal, and South Africa.
