The Algerian National Team displayed formidable prowess, securing a resounding 3-0 victory against Togo in a preparatory encounter for the AFCON 2023.

This triumph serves as a promising reassurance for Djamel Belmadi’s proteges as they gear up for the highly anticipated tournament, set to kick off on January 13.

The match, marked by an impressive offensive display, witnessed Borussia Dortmund stalwart Ramy Bensebaini breaking the deadlock with an early goal in the 20th minute, putting Algeria ahead 1-0.

Despite Togo’s determined efforts to level the score, they fell short in the face of Algeria’s solid defense, heading into halftime trailing.

The Fennecs, returning from the break with renewed determination, extended their lead with two additional goals.

Islam Slimani, the seasoned forward and former Sporting CP player, found the back of the net in the 55th minute, elevating Algeria’s lead to 2-0.

Notably, Bensebaini capped off the match with a remarkable double, scoring Algeria’s third goal and sealing the victory with a final scoreline of 3-0.

This commanding performance in their last pre-AFCON match underscores Algeria’s readiness for the challenges that lie ahead.

Drawn into Group D alongside Angola, Burkina Faso, and Mauritania, the reigning African champions will commence their AFCON campaign on January 15, facing off against Angola’s Palancas Negras.

The emphatic victory against Togo serves as a positive harbinger for Algeria as they aim to defend their AFCON title and make their mark on the continental stage once again.
