Torino Target Algeria’s Saphir Taïder Amid Impressive Serie A Loan Spell
Algerian international Saphir Taïder has emerged as a summer transfer target for Torino, following a steady season on loan at Sassuolo from Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who has featured in 22 Serie A matches and scored twice this season, remains under contract with Inter, but his future in Milan appears uncertain. Torino are said to be keen on securing his services permanently, though they would need to meet Inter’s €7 million asking price.
Taïder has impressed with his work rate and versatility in Sassuolo’s midfield, contributing to the club’s stable campaign. Currently sitting in 13th place in Serie A with 35 points, Sassuolo are comfortably clear of relegation danger — 13 points above the drop zone — but well outside European qualification contention.
Torino, on the other hand, are enjoying a strong season. The Granata are eighth in the standings and just seven points behind fourth-placed Napoli, placing them in the conversation for a potential European spot. Coach Giampiero Ventura is believed to be an admirer of Taïder’s dynamic style and sees him as a valuable addition to strengthen the squad’s midfield depth.
Taïder, a regular for Algeria’s national team, has previously played for Bologna, Inter, and Southampton. His future could depend on Torino’s final league position, as European football would make the move all the more appealing.
While Sassuolo still hold his registration for the remainder of the campaign, the club have not indicated whether they will make a move to retain him beyond the season.
For now, Taïder remains focused on finishing the season strongly, but a summer move could be on the horizon.
