Algeria’s national team returned to training on Tuesday evening as preparations intensified for their upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) Group C encounter against South Africa on Friday at Mandela Stadium in Kampala.

The session, conducted on a pitch adjacent to the team’s accommodation, was divided into two parts.

According to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), players who featured in the starting line-up during Algeria’s dominant 3-0 win over Uganda focused on recovery work.

Meanwhile, the rest of the squad, including substitutes and non-playing members, engaged in a standard training session under the supervision of the coaching staff.

Midfielder Akram Bouras made a return to training, participating in light individual ball exercises, as he continues to build fitness following an earlier setback.

Lahlou Akhrib remained on a tailored physical rehabilitation programme, while goalkeeper Tarik Bousder was actively involved in drills with the rest of the goalkeeping unit, overseen by specialist coach Azzedine Doukha.

Algeria’s resounding opening-day victory over Uganda marked an ideal start to their CHAN campaign, with the team demonstrating tactical discipline and attacking efficiency.

Guinea also secured three points in their first outing with a 1-0 win against Niger. South Africa, who did not play on matchday one, will be making their tournament debut in Friday’s showdown against the Desert Foxes.

The current Group C standings place Algeria and Guinea jointly at the summit with three points apiece, while Uganda and Niger are yet to open their accounts.

With only the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarter-finals, scheduled for August 22 and 23, the upcoming fixtures are expected to be decisive.

Friday’s clash promises to be a significant test for Algeria, who will be keen to secure a second consecutive victory and take a firm step toward the knockout stages.

The team’s technical staff have emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum and focus as the competition intensifies.

As CHAN 2024 progresses, Algeria’s campaign will be closely monitored by supporters and analysts alike, with growing expectations following their impressive start.

The squad, buoyed by their early success and led by a blend of experience and emerging talent, will look to continue their strong run and solidify their position among the tournament’s frontrunners.
