Algeria midfielder Moncef Titraoui passes Lens medical before transfer

Lens are expected to complete the signing of Algerian midfielder Moncef Titraoui after the 23-year-old reportedly chose a move to Ligue 1 despite interest from clubs in England, Greece and the Gulf region.

The French club are set to pay around €11 million to secure the player’s services, an amount that matches the valuation placed on him by Charleroi. The deal would see Lens buy out the final year of Titraoui’s contract with the Belgian side.

The transfer would represent a significant financial boost for Charleroi, who signed the midfielder from Paradou AC in the summer of 2024 for €1.2 million.

Titraoui’s expected departure would allow the Belgian club to record a gross capital gain of approximately €9.8 million, excluding possible bonuses and any percentage that may be owed to his former club.

The midfielder’s rapid rise in value has been built on his consistent performances, strong work ethic and technical qualities during his time in Belgium.

After arriving from Algeria, Titraoui quickly established himself as an important player and attracted attention from several clubs across different leagues.

His progress has now opened the door for a move to France, where he will look to continue his development at Lens.

The transfer could also provide Titraoui with an opportunity to strengthen his position within the Algeria national team setup.

The midfielder remained on the bench throughout the 2026 World Cup and will now be aiming to use regular Ligue 1 football as a platform to challenge for a more prominent role.

His next challenge will be adapting quickly to French football and proving his quality at a higher level.

Titraoui will also be hoping to impress Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic, if he remains in charge, or whoever takes over the national team position in the future.
