Algeria midfielder Ismael Bennacer is currently battling illness ahead of Olympique Marseille’s clash with AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1.
In a highly competitive clash on Saturday, Marseille will lock horns with Monaco as both teams battle for maximum points.
Bennacer is suffering a stomach discomfort and is racing against time to be fit for Marseille’s upcoming match.
The 27-year-old missed the sides training on Friday and the team gear up for the match on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the game, manager Roberto De Zerbi disclosed Bennacer would be included in the matchday squad but is uncertain about his involvement.
“He’ll come with us to the hotel tonight, but he wasn’t here today because of illness. We’ve left him to recover at home and then we’ll see tomorrow,” said De Zerbi in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
The 27-year-old joined the French Ligue 1 giants on loan during the January transfer window from AC Milan. Since joining the club, Bennacer has racked up seven appearances, delivering an assists across the period.
