CS Constantine tightened their grip on second place in the Ligue 1 table with a 2-0 victory over ES Sétif, as a second-half double from Nassim L’Ghoul secured a third straight league win.
The side from Constantine continue their strong run of form and now sit four points behind leaders Mouloudia d’Alger, who still have four matches in hand.
Despite that gap, CS Constantine have strengthened their hold on second position after another convincing display.
The result maintained a productive spell for the club following an encouraging transfer window.
Since the start of 2026, the team have recorded five wins, one draw and only one defeat — that loss coming against the league leaders — under coach Lassad Dridi.
Having already knocked ES Sétif out of the domestic cup in January, Constantine repeated the outcome in the league, though they had to wait until after the break to make their superiority count.
The breakthrough arrived in the 70th minute.
After a driving run from Chikhi opened space in the penalty area, L’Ghoul collected the pass and bent a shot inside the near post beyond goalkeeper Saidi.
Constantine quickly doubled their advantage six minutes later.
Lahemri surged down the flank and delivered into the box, where L’Ghoul reacted first to finish and complete his brace.
The two goals effectively settled the contest and ensured the hosts claimed maximum points, extending their winning streak and reinforcing their position among the league’s top contenders.
With momentum on their side and consistent results since the turn of the year, Constantine are emerging as the most immediate challengers behind the leaders, even if the title race remains complicated by the games in hand at the summit.
