Faruk Hadzibegic is reportedly set to become the new coach of ES Sétif, according to information revealed by the president of the club’s Board of Directors, Azzedine Arab, and relayed by the APS. Following unsuccessful negotiations with Georges Leekens, ES Sétif has allegedly reached an agreement with the Bosnian coach to replace Hubert Velud, the former coach of Togo.
While Hadzibegic acknowledges having had a phone conversation with club president Hassan Hammar, he insists on having a written contract before making a decision. In a statement to France Football, the Bosnian coach expressed his interest in the challenge, saying, “My name has often been circulated in Algeria, and a challenge in this football country would interest me.”
Currently struggling in the group stage of Group A of the CAF Cup, where they are last with 3 points, Entente Sétif aims to shift focus to defending their championship title. Faruk Hadzibegic’s last coaching stint was in 2011 with Arles-Avignon in Ligue 1 of France.
