Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane joins Leganés on one-year deal

Algeria international goalkeeper Luca Zidane has joined Spanish club Leganés on a one-year contract, with an option to extend the agreement for another season.

The 28-year-old moves to Leganés after spending the previous two campaigns with Granada and representing Algeria at the recent World Cup.

The transfer marks another chapter in the goalkeeper’s career in Spanish football, where he has spent most of his professional career.

Zidane returns to Spanish football

A product of the Real Madrid academy, Zidane made his first-team debut for the Spanish giants in a La Liga fixture against Villarreal in May 2018.

He subsequently spent time on loan at Racing Santander before completing a permanent move to Rayo Vallecano in 2020.

Zidane played an important role as Rayo secured promotion to La Liga and later featured in Spain’s top flight with the Madrid-based club.

Algeria international joins Leganés

After leaving Rayo, Zidane continued his career with Granada, where he spent the last two seasons before making the switch to Leganés.

His international career has also taken a significant step forward after he represented Algeria at the recent World Cup.

The goalkeeper will now bring his experience of Spanish football and international competition to Leganés as the club prepares for the new season.

With his initial contract running for one year, Zidane will have the opportunity to extend his stay if both parties are satisfied with his performances.
