Algeria’s hopes of reaching the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals will be decided when they meet Zambia on Friday, 16 October, in the final round of Group A matches.
The match will begin at 20:00 Algeria time on 16 October 2026, which is 20:00 in Morocco and 21:00 in France. It will be played at the Ibn Yassine hall in Rabat.
The game will be shown on Moroccan channel Arryadia and streamed on CAF TV, the Confederation of African Football’s official YouTube channel, subject to geographical broadcasting restrictions.
This is Algeria’s first appearance at the finals of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, but the Fennecs already face a must-win fixture. They opened their campaign with a 4-0 defeat by hosts Morocco, the three-time defending champions, before claiming a historic 2-2 draw against Libya on Wednesday.
Algeria scored twice in the closing minutes to rescue a point against Libya. That result left them with one point and in fourth place in Group A, behind Zambia on three points and Libya on one. Morocco lead the section with six points and have already secured their place in the semi-finals.
The race for the second qualification place remains open. Zambia began the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Libya but then suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat by Morocco, leaving them one point ahead of their two rivals.
Algeria must beat Zambia to keep their hopes alive. They will also have to follow the result of the other Group A match, in which Morocco face Libya at the same time.
A victory would take Algeria above Zambia in the standings, but it would not necessarily guarantee qualification if Libya also defeat Morocco. In that event, the CAF tie-breaking criteria could be required to determine which team progresses.
The Algerian side are therefore competing for two significant achievements: their first win in the history of their Futsal Africa Cup of Nations finals appearances and a possible place in the last four at the first attempt.
