Algeria face Malawi in Womens Africa Cup of Nations semi-final

Algeria will meet Malawi in the first semi-final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 on Wednesday, with kick-off at 19:00 French time and 18:00 in Algeria.

The match will be played at the Stade Olympique de Rabat in Morocco. It will be broadcast in France on beIN Sports 1 and in Algeria on beIN Sports Mena 6.

Algeria reached the last four after beating Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 last weekend, securing a place in the semi-finals of the competition for the first time. Farid Benstiti’s side will now attempt to go one step further and reach their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

The Vertes have made progress throughout the tournament, but face a Malawi team that has emerged as one of the competition’s biggest surprises. Malawi are appearing in the semi-finals during their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

They made an early statement by finishing top of their group ahead of Nigeria, the defending champions. The East African side then continued their impressive run by overcoming Ghana, who finished third at the previous edition.

Benstiti will have to manage a number of selection concerns for the match. Morgane Ikene will miss out after undergoing ankle surgery on Sunday. Her absence comes in addition to that of Ines Boutaleb, who is also unavailable.

Sofia Guellati remains a doubt as she continues her recovery. Her fitness will be assessed before the semi-final, leaving Algeria with uncertainty over another member of the squad.

The game therefore brings together an Algeria side seeking to reach a first final and a Malawi team attempting to extend a breakthrough campaign. The winner will advance to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 final.
