According to the latest rankings published by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on its official website on Thursday, the Algerian national team now stands 44th globally with a total of 1,474.13 points. This marks a drop from their previous position in April.

The decline in ranking can be attributed to the team’s recent home defeat against Guinea in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

This loss resulted in a deduction of nine points from their total score, impacting their overall standing.

Under the guidance of head coach Vladimir Petković, the team has faced challenges in maintaining their position.

The loss to Guinea has not only affected their global ranking but also their standing within the African continent.

In the latest FIFA rankings, Algeria ranks seventh in Africa, trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Tunisia.
