CR Belouizdad President Malek Hints at Resignation Amid Growing Fan Pressure
Tensions are rising at CR Belouizdad as the Algerian club grapples with a difficult period on and off the pitch. Amid mounting dissatisfaction from supporters, club president Réda Malek has hinted he may step down if the situation fails to stabilise.
Speaking candidly about the growing unrest among fans, Malek acknowledged the pressure he is facing and the toll it is taking on the club’s leadership.
“I think I’ll stay at the helm of the club next season,” he said. “But if the pressure from the fans continues and they don’t understand me, I might consider resigning.”
CRB, one of Algeria’s most storied football clubs, has endured a disappointing campaign, and frustrations have boiled over in recent weeks. Supporters have voiced their anger over the team’s performances, but Malek believes the criticism is misdirected.
“These same supporters must know that since I took over the club, I have never skimped on the means to put the team in the best possible conditions,” he explained. “This year too, we have done everything to ensure that the coaching staff and players lack nothing. So, it is support that we need — not people who try to put obstacles in our way.”
Malek urged for unity and cooperation, pointing to the shared goal of restoring CRB to its historic status in Algerian football. He expressed hope that the relationship between the club’s management and its supporters could still improve.
“I believe that the relationship between management and supporters will eventually improve in the future,” he said. “We must work in harmony with the sole objective of restoring CRB to its rightful place. We must combine efforts so that the club regains its former glory.”
With CR Belouizdad at a crossroads, the coming weeks may prove pivotal — both in terms of results on the field and the club’s leadership off it. Whether Malek remains at the helm or chooses to walk away, much will depend on whether a fractured fan base and management can find common ground to move forward.
