Rolland Courbis has officially signed a one-year contract with USM Algiers, a first-division club in Algeria. Courbis, a French coach, takes over from the Argentine Miguel Angel Gamondi and will assume his role from November 1.
The task at hand for Courbis is to improve USM Algiers’ standing in the Algerian Ligue 1. The club currently sits in 11th place with 8 points after 7 matches. Ali Haddad, the club’s owner and head of the ETRHB group, a private company in road works and buildings, leads USM Algiers.
Courbis, 59, has previously managed clubs like Bordeaux (1996-97), Olympique de Marseille (1997-99), and Montpellier (2007-09). His coaching experience extends to international teams, having managed Niger (November 2011-June 2012) and a club in Switzerland.
