Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic to unveil World Cup squad on 31 May
Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic is set to officially announce his final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup during a press conference scheduled for 31 May.
The announcement comes as the Algeria national team continue preparations at the Sidi Moussa National Technical Centre, where players began gathering on Monday for the latest training camp ahead of the tournament.
According to the Algerian Football Federation, Petkovic’s press conference will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
The event is expected to provide clarity over the final list of players selected to represent the Fennecs at the World Cup after several weeks of speculation surrounding the composition of the squad.
While no official selections have yet been confirmed, reports circulating around the national team suggest that the structure of the group is already beginning to emerge as preparations intensify.
The training camp at Sidi Moussa has already started despite the absence of some players who are still expected to join the squad in the coming days.
Petkovic and his technical staff are continuing to oversee physical work, tactical sessions and evaluations as Algeria build towards the tournament.
The national team are scheduled to remain in Algeria until 1 June before travelling to Rotterdam to continue preparations abroad.
Once in the Netherlands, the Fennecs will play their first friendly match of the preparation period against the Netherlands national football team.
The match is scheduled to take place two days later at De Kuip and is expected to offer Petkovic an important opportunity to assess his squad before the World Cup begins.
Attention now turns towards the upcoming press conference, where the Algeria coach is expected to explain the choices behind his final selections and provide further insight into the team’s plans ahead of the competition.
