MC Alger have set sights on appointing South African trainer Rulani Mokwena as their new head coach heading into the 2025/26 football campaign.
The Algerian champions are currently without a substantive gaffer following the exit of Khaled Ben Yahia at the expiration of his contract.
MC Alger are looking to entrust the former Wydad Casablanca gaffer with the coaching job, considering his wealth of experience. The nine-time Algerian champions are hoping to sign Mokwena, seeing him as a perfect replacement for Khaled Ben Yahia.
Ben Yahia had been in charge of the Algerian club since March 2023, leading them to the league title in the 2023/24 season.
Despite not being the only candidate, Mokwena appears to be the favourite for the coaching job. Meanwhile, MC Alger has also contacted former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi.
However, Mokwena’s move seems more likely, as Mngqithi currently has an active contract with Golden Arrows and does not appear to be planning a departure.
As head coach of Sundowns, Mokwena won three league titles, the inaugural African Football League, and the Nedbank Cup.
