The Algerian national team has landed in Botswana ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier, following an eight-hour journey from North Africa.
The squad arrived in the capital, Gaborone, on Tuesday morning, with their specially chartered flight touching down at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at approximately 9:40 a.m. local time (8:40 a.m. in Algeria). Upon arrival, the team received a warm reception from Algeria’s ambassador to Botswana, Abdelmalek Tigharghar.
After disembarking, the players, including Youcef Atal and his teammates, proceeded to their hotel to rest and recover from the long journey.
With a tight schedule ahead, the squad will now focus on final preparations before facing Botswana in Francistown on Friday, March 21, as part of the fifth round of the World Cup qualifiers.
Algeria will be looking to secure a positive result to strengthen their position in the qualification race, with the match set to be a key test in their campaign for a place at the 2026 tournament.
