Violence erupted in the Ghardaïa region in southern Algeria after a football match between two local teams from Guerrara. Supporters from both teams engaged in clashes, throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at each other. Riot police intervened using tear gas to disperse the crowd. Subsequently, supporters went on a rampage, ransacking and burning around thirty businesses, homes, and vehicles in various neighborhoods. Over 150 people have been arrested in connection with the incidents. The situation calmed down with the implementation of an “impressive security system” in Guerrara.
