Adil Bourabaa picks up injury

Algerian midfielder Adil Bourabaa has suffered an injury setback just as he was beginning to make a strong impression at both club and international level.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign with Le Mans FC, earning his first call-up to the Algeria national team after playing a key role in his club’s encouraging opening weeks of the season.

However, according to a report, Bourabaa picked up an ankle injury while on international duty with Algeria and is now facing a spell on the sidelines.

Bourabaa has emerged as one of the standout performers for Le Mans this season, contributing three goals and two assists in Ligue 1. His performances have been particularly important for Patrick Videira’s side, who entered the campaign with many observers expecting them to struggle in the top flight.

Instead, Le Mans have exceeded expectations and currently occupy ninth position in the Ligue 1 table, with Bourabaa playing a significant role in their strong start.

The former ESTAC Troyes midfielder’s form also earned him recognition from the Algerian national team, marking an important milestone in what has been a rapid rise for the youngster.

Unfortunately for both player and club, his international breakthrough has been followed by an untimely injury.

Bourabaa’s ankle problem will rule him out of Le Mans’ meeting with Paris Saint-Germain this Saturday, depriving Videira of one of his most influential players for the difficult fixture.

The midfielder is expected to undergo further medical examinations today to determine the severity of the injury and establish a clearer timeline for his recovery.

While the full extent of the problem is yet to be confirmed, the initial expectation is that Bourabaa could miss several weeks of competition.

The setback comes at a frustrating time for the youngster, who had been building considerable momentum after establishing himself as an important player for Le Mans and receiving his first opportunity with the Algeria senior team.
