Algeria’s U17 women’s team secured a spot in the second round of the Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Tunisia on Sunday at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida.
Having won the first leg 1-0 in Sousse, Algeria entered the return fixture knowing a draw would be sufficient to progress.
Despite the lack of goals, the team displayed composure and defensive solidity to hold off Tunisia and ensure their advancement.
The aggregate victory keeps Algeria’s hopes alive for a spot in the U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025.
In the next round, Algeria will face Botswana, who advanced after Equatorial Guinea withdrew from the qualifiers.
The two-legged tie is scheduled to begin in early March, with the first leg set to take place between March 7 and 9.
This achievement marks an important milestone for Algeria’s young women’s team as they continue their journey towards competing on the world stage.
With their focus now on the challenge posed by Botswana, the team will aim to maintain their strong form and take another step closer to the prestigious tournament in Morocco.
