Alexios Philip Loizidis: Cyprus-South Africa midfielder joins AEZ Zakaki on loan from APEA Akrotiri
Cyprus-South Africa midfielder Alexios Philip Loizidis has joined AEZ Zakaki on loan from APEA Akrotiri. The 20-year-old central midfielder arrives on a deal running until the end of the 2026-27 season, with his contract at AEZ Zakaki set to expire on 31 May 2027.
Born in Johannesburg in January 2006, Loizidis represents both Cypriot and South African nationality and is regarded as a central midfielder who operates predominantly with his right foot. Standing at 1.81m, he moves to Zakaki after a spell in the Cypriot second tier, where he has already gained experience in senior football.
Loizidis heads to AEZ having most recently been on the books of APEA Akrotiri, who first recruited him on a free transfer from Apollon Limassol’s Under-19 side in September 2025. During his time with APEA he also spent part of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Ano Mouttagiaka, returning to Akrotiri at the end of that season before securing this latest move.
The midfielder has already featured in the Cypriot Second Division and the national cup, making eight competitive appearances and completing a full 90 minutes in the domestic cup. His total of 235 senior minutes so far offers AEZ Zakaki a player who has had an initial taste of first-team action in different competitions.
Loizidis’s temporary switch also includes a scheduled return to APEA Akrotiri on 30 June 2027, confirming the move as a straightforward season-long loan between the Cypriot clubs.
