Algerian international goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja, currently with FC Metz, has firmly denied rumors linking him to a move to SC Bastia. Despite FC Metz’s relegation to Ligue 2, Oukidja has expressed his commitment to remain with the club.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper, who has been with the Grenats since 2018, took to Instagram to refute the transfer speculations.

“I was very surprised by the information published this morning, which is completely false,” Oukidja stated. “SC Bastia did not take any information about my situation.

I regret that the newspaper Le Républicain Lorrain did not even take the trouble to contact my representatives or myself to verify this false information.”

Oukidja emphasized his loyalty to FC Metz, stating, “I am under contract with Metz for another season and I am at the disposal of my club as I have been for six years.”

The veteran goalkeeper, who played a key role in Algeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, is also considering a return to international duty after having previously announced his retirement from the national team.

Since joining FC Metz, Oukidja has made an impressive 195 appearances. He is on track to surpass the 200-match milestone in the upcoming season, underscoring his significant contribution to the club.

Despite the team’s recent relegation, Oukidja remains focused on helping Metz secure a return to Ligue 1, a feat he has achieved twice with the club and once with Racing Club de Strasbourg, where he played from 2014 to 2018.

Oukidja’s steadfast commitment to Metz comes at a crucial time as the club aims to rebuild and aim for promotion back to the top tier of French football.

His experience and leadership will be vital assets for the team as they navigate the challenges of Ligue 2.

In his statement, Oukidja not only dismissed the transfer rumors but also highlighted the importance of accurate reporting.

He called out the local newspaper for spreading misinformation, emphasizing the need for journalists to verify their sources before publishing such news.

As the new season approaches, Oukidja’s presence in goal will be a reassuring factor for Metz fans.

His dedication to the club, despite their current standing, reflects his professional integrity and commitment to his team.

With his eyes set on helping Metz achieve their promotion goals, Oukidja is ready to continue his journey with the Grenats, proving his worth as one of their most reliable players.

The goalkeeper’s potential return to the Algerian national team could also provide a significant boost, bringing his wealth of experience and skill back to the international stage.

For now, however, Oukidja’s focus remains firmly on Metz and their quest to reclaim their spot in Ligue 1.
