Alexander Røssing-Lelesiit is gradually increasing his workload as he moves closer to a possible return to Hamburger SV’s matchday squad.
The 19-year-old Norwegian has been out for an extended period, but his recovery has now reached a more encouraging stage.
According to the Hamburger Morgenpost, Røssing-Lelesiit is training with noticeably greater intensity. He is already taking part in challenges and one-on-one situations again, suggesting that his injured ankle has regained enough stability for more demanding work.
A place against FC Koln this Saturday will arrive too soon, however. HSV are expected to continue managing the winger carefully after his lengthy absence rather than risk an immediate competitive comeback.
Røssing-Lelesiit has not played since the end of April. He had previously worked his way back from a syndesmosis ligament tear before suffering a separate ankle injury that required surgery. The latest progress indicates that the operation and rehabilitation have produced the desired results.
The Bundesliga break after the Koln match should provide additional time to build his fitness. If his recovery continues without complications, Røssing-Lelesiit could become an option for HSV’s squad when they face TSG Hoffenheim on October 10.
