Alexander Røssing-Lelesiit faces delayed HSV return

Hamburger SV will be without Alexander Røssing-Lelesiit for Sunday’s high-profile friendly against FC Copenhagen, as the young attacker remains on the long road back from injury.

HSV head coach Merlin Polzin has made it clear that the 19-year-old is not yet ready to return to competitive action. “Alex is still a long way off from playing. The injury layoff was simply too long for that.,” Polzin told Bild, stressing that the club will not rush his recovery.

Røssing-Lelesiit is recovering from a syndesmosis tear, a serious ankle injury that has kept him out for an extended period. Although the Norway youth international has reportedly resumed parts of team training, his progress is being handled carefully.

The upcoming meeting with Copenhagen has arrived too soon for the talented forward. In fact, HSV may need to wait beyond that fixture before considering him for selection. The club’s priority is to rebuild his fitness gradually and avoid any setback during the final stages of rehabilitation.

Røssing-Lelesiit made 11 appearances last season, and Hamburg will hope his eventual return provides another attacking option. For now, patience remains essential as the youngster works toward a safe comeback.
