Alexander Isak sends heartfelt support to injured Hugo Ekitike
Alexander Isak says the entire Liverpool squad has been shaken by Hugo Ekitike’s serious Achilles injury and are doing everything they can to lift his spirits.
The forward suffered the rupture in the first half of Liverpool’s defeat to PSG at Anfield and now faces a long spell on the sidelines, as confirmed by head coach Arne Slot.
Speaking about his teammate, Isak admitted the news had hit the dressing room hard. “Obviously we’re all gutted for that injury,” he said. “It’s very unfortunate for him and for the team as well. We’re all behind him, supporting him.”
Ekitike’s setback comes at a crucial stage of the season, with Liverpool still fighting on multiple fronts and already juggling fitness issues in attack. Isak, who has battled his own injuries in recent months, knows how tough a long rehabilitation can be and is determined to be there for his fellow forward on and off the pitch.
The club, staff and players are expected to rally around Ekitike in the coming weeks as he begins what will likely be a challenging and lengthy recovery process.
