Alexander Isak ready for derby stage again

Alexander Isak is gearing up for his second Merseyside derby as Liverpool make the short trip to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, hoping to extend his impressive record in crucial matches.

The striker came off the bench in September’s 2-1 win and has already scored in derby clashes for Newcastle, Real Sociedad and AIK earlier in his career.

“I don’t really know my record in those games! But I think those are the games that mean the most for the fans and for the players,” Isak admitted, acknowledging the extra emotion and noise that come with derby days. “It’s those moments and those games we want to play, and hopefully we can make a good day out of it.”

Looking ahead to Sunday, he kept his message simple. “I think we just need to do a good performance, work hard and play as a team. The quality is there, so we just need to show it,” he said, underlining Liverpool’s belief that if they match Everton’s intensity, their attacking talent can tilt another fiery derby in their favour.
